Fabricsandpapers Sponsors 'Knights of the Tin Can'

Over 200 cars, motorbikes, ambulances, fire engines and one three wheeler crossed the start line of the Mongol Rally 2011 at the Goodwood Motor Circuit heading for Ulaan Baator – a distance of 9000 miles.

Fabrics & Papers is sponsoring one of the teams, ‘Knights of The Tin Can’ driving a Suzuki Vitara, in its attempt to reach Mongolia and raise money for charities including the Mines Advisory Group, the Christina Noble Orphanage and the Brooke Animal Hospital for Animals.

Their route to Mongolia takes them through France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan.

We shall keep you updated on the team’s exploits as they head for Mongolia, no doubt overcoming a few difficulties on the way.

Teams are left to their own devices to deal with breakdowns in remote deserts, and days of waiting at border crossings. They will cross two deserts, eight frontier posts and be travelling the equivalent of 78 times around the M25 motorway which circles Greater London
