Farrow & Ball is a design house where traditional living is recreated. Farrow & Ball has an impressive history, from providing paint to the Admiralty and War Office, to being one of the only paint producers in the country to continue to use traditional methods.
Since 1946, Farrow & Ball has been making their products in Dorset, one batch at a time. Farrow & Ball are renowned for its use of authentic colour palettes and producing beautiful unique wallpapers.
This privately owned company stuck to its craft and continued making paint to its original formulations, using the finest raw materials.
With consistent loyal customers through much of the 20th Century, it wasn’t until the 21st Century that Farrow & Ball finally gained global recognition.
Farrow & Ball painted wallpapers are quite unique as they are produced using our own environmentally friendly water based paints and traditional manufacturing methods. Our patterned wallpapers are block printed and our stripes and stries are trough printed. All its wallpapers are made to order in its factory in Dorset, home to Farrow & Ball for the past sixty years.
Each wallpaper design has a unique texture which is achieved by using a hand brushing technique to apply the ‘ground’ colour. This, coupled with the application of the pattern or stripe using another layer of paint, creates wallpaper of great distinction and beauty.
The depth and beauty of Farrow & Ball paint colours are unmatched by other paints. The company uses more high quality pigments and resins and no low quality ‘fillers’, which gives its colours visibly greater depth and purity often referred to as the ‘Farrow & Ball look’.
Farrow & Ball’s colour accuracy and quality is second to none as the company has complete control over every tin of paint and roll of wallpaper they produce.
Farrow & Ball paints grace the walls of some of the most beautiful homes across the world. The colours and finishes are historically rooted, meticulously researched, and reflect its unique heritage. The same distinctive approach applies to its wallpaper: they are unique in using their own paints and traditional printing methods to create wallpapers of exceptional texture and beauty.
Farrow & Ball’s historic restoration range has been enhanced over the years and now offers customers an unrivalled range of elegant decorative and architectural paint finishes, along with an extraordinary collection of artisan wallpapers made using Farrow & Ball paints.
