Founded by Arthur Sanderson in 1860, Sanderson is an internationally renowned brand in the field of interior design and decorating. Its quintessentially English fabrics and wallpapers, bedlinen, paint and tableware collections offer classic, inspirational product, design innovation, exceptional quality and value for money.

Having been granted a Royal Warrant in 1923, Sanderson still supplies fabrics, paint and wallcoverings to HM Queen Elizabeth II and British Royal Palaces.

This mix creates new and The Sanderson design archive houses one of the largest collections of fabrics, wallpaper and printing blocks in the world with samples dating back to the Renaissance. This resource is a constant inspiration to the design studio, which is always looking at new ways of re-interpreting these design classics to suit modern tastes.

Wallpapers were where it all started in 1860. Sanderson have been offering wallpaper collections ever since. It offers the following wallpaper designs: Stripes, Stylised florals, Metallics, Pearlescents, Damasks, Florals, Small Scale and Textures.

Sanderson’s first printed fabrics were launched in 1921 and have been in production ever since. Its range includes: Bold prints, Silk, satin & cotton damasks, Classic cotton & linen prints, Brocades, Delicate embroidery, Feminine Florals, Traditional toile de jouy, Upholstery, Large colour library of plains and Sheers.

Very Sanderson - 150 years of English decoration 19 March 2010 - 13 June 2010

Sanderson was founded by Arthur Sanderson in 1860 and for the last 150 years has been at the forefront of English decoration - producing the first coordinated collection of mass-produced wallpapers and fabrics in Britain. It also introduced a number of important technical innovations as well as developing a range of textiles and wallpapers by influential designers and Britain's first 'infinite' range of colours in household paints.

During its illustrious history the company has amassed a huge collection of wallpapers and textiles representing the many changing faces and fads of interior decoration. Celebrating 150 years of the company this exhibition highlights the best of its archive as well as brand new collections. Full of surprises, it will fascinate and inform those whose tastes run from the Arts & Crafts style, jazzy Moderne, fifties' Festival designs and Pop patterns, to decidedly contemporary art and decor.
