About the Design...

One of Lewis & Wood's signature designs, Adam's Eden is available in several colourways as a fabric as well as wallpaper. It features a humble blue bird perched high on a branch in the Garden of Eden, surrounded by a collection of stylised flowers and leaves. The original artwork is by Adam Calkin, one of Britain's leading decorative artists for the past 30 years. It is printed as a wide-width wallpaper to do it justice and has a repeat pattern of 108.5cm half drop, which means the pattern doesn't match exactly on each side of the fabric, matching half a drop down instead. The advantage of this is that it brings a sense of informality.

The various colours in the wallpaper tie in beautifully with the antique rug, armchair upholstery, chair velvet, woodwork and cornicing paint. The addition of the owner's collection of bird ornaments is also inspired.

The result is an individualistic space that exudes character and personality, that feels cosy and homely despite its grand proportions.
