Tropical wallpaper, antiquarian artwork and richly coloured velvet transform this former Post Office into a Brightonian gem. The Insta-bait interiors attract a young, hip crowd who aren't left disappointed. Pick between cream tea, afternoon tea and champagne – and all are accompanied by freshly baked scones. The latter two also see several breads and rolls with delightful fillings and toppings.
Then there's the sweet: raspberry cheesecake, crème brulée-filled doughnuts, as well as chocolate and salted-caramel mousse. The last of these comes in miniature plant pots, topped with real flowers. The delicious, modern, eclectic menu suits the location to a T!
"As a vegetarian, group outings always give reason to pause. The Ivy, however, catered perfectly to my needs. The savouries were delicious, but it was the creative sweets that were the real crowd-pleasers. They were offered alongside classic scones, which then kicked off our favourite toppings debate of Cornish versus Devon. A lovely day in a truly stunning interior."

"A stunning location for a five-star treat. The staff made the experience unique with recommendations of the best teas to accompany each tier. Afternoon tea is taken seriously, with teas brewed with timers and in different ways to achieve the perfect aroma. We were recommended a chocolate tea that looked like a normal tea but tasted just like a rich cup of chocolate. The food was delicious and freshly made, and we even went home with a doggy bag full of cake."

"I loved going to Alexander House for afternoon tea. The selection of both savoury and sweet was amazing, and everyone can just keep getting topped up if you're especially hungry. There is a huge range of tea and other drinks to go alongside the food. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are somewhere special. We sat next to the open fire, which is in the middle of the room, on the most comfortable and luxurious wingback chairs. We all left feeling full and truly relaxed."
