How to Measure for Furniture Delivery

These are our top tips on how to measure for furniture delivery. They come from years of delivering furniture ourselves and bespoke furniture is also available.

All these steps will make the furniture delivery process run more smoothly for you and those delivering. We recommend, however, doing these measurements before you purchase. But, if all else fails, there's always our bespoke furniture option.

How To Ensure Your Have The Correct Measures

Before you make your purchase, begin by measuring the access points. This will determine the best path for the delivery of your furniture.

These three images will help you to see the size constraints.

Image 1. Take the measurements of the entryways that your piece of furniture will go through. Then note both the height (A) and the width (B).

Image 2. Measure the entry clearance (C). This is the distance from the wall through the doorway to the opposite wall.

Image 3. Make sure to take into account low lying lamps (D), ceiling heights (E), pictures on the wall (F), staircases and banisters (G).

Top tip: Map out the space with newspaper or mark it with masking tape. This will help you to check that your new piece of furniture is in proportion with the rest of the room.

What Furniture Measurements Will You Need for Your Delivery?

When you have all those measurements then you need to consider what item of furniture you wish to buy. You may want an armchair, a two-seater sofa or something much bigger.

Once you have a rough idea you can compare the two sets of measurements.
