Luxurious Bespoke Cushions to Enhance an Exceptional Alpine Retreat

We always love collaborating with returning customers - it’s a privilege to watch their interior visions evolve. So we were thrilled when CERVO Mountain Resort reached out again. Nestled in the Swiss Alps, this stylish boutique hotel had previously partnered with us for the refurbishment of their restaurant, and this time they had a truly special brief: 180 bespoke cushions to enhance their beautifully designed bedrooms.

Inspired by the breathtaking Alpine landscape that surrounds them, the team wanted the new cushions to reflect the natural beauty of their mountain setting. Discovering the stunning Arden Velvet by Zoffany, adorned with mythical creatures, they were instantly captivated. Their vision was to showcase each creature as the focus of its own cushion design, pairing it with complementary green wool cushions, each finished with personalised embroidery for a truly bespoke touch.

About the Design and Process...

A scenic fabric depicting an enchanting forest scene, Arden is printed on a luxurious velvet in rust red. Amongst the whimsical trees, horned sheep, deer and a handsome unicorn stand proudly, as rabbits, squirrels, wild fowl and moles prance across the cloth. A mid-15th-century design discovered in a house in Halifax in 1901, it is reminiscent of tapestries found all over Britain.

With an impressive pattern repeat of nearly a metre, precision was key. Our bespoke team worked closely with our makers to carefully calculate the exact amount of fabric required to ensure each mythical creature was perfectly centred on every cushion. Once each motif was expertly cut, we turned our attention to the finishing details - selecting the perfect contrasting piping and cushion backing. With the fabric laid out across our workbench, we trialled a range of shades before finding the ideal match: Lana Wool by Linwood in both Racing Green and Apricot.

To ensure every element worked in perfect harmony, we selected a bespoke orange thread and embroidered CERVO's stag emblem along with the strapline “beyond exploring” onto the complementary green cushions - creating a cohesive and beautifully personalised finishing touch. Our highly-skilled Sussex-based makers worked hard to ensure that every cushion was perfectly uniform and hand-finished on time. We are thrilled to hear that they have "quickly become a guest favourite – not only for their stylish aesthetic, but also for the feeling of understated comfort they bring to the rooms".
