The Sussex Snowdrop Trust

3 Mar 2025

The Sussex Snowdrop Trust is a vital local children’s charity dedicated to providing essential nursing care at home for children facing life-threatening illnesses, such as cancer, brain tumours and severe heart and lung conditions. Through its compassionate and specialised support, the trust ensures children receive the best possible care within their family environment.

Services and Support

At the heart of the charity’s mission is its dedicated team of paediatric community nurses, who play a crucial role in empowering parents to care for their seriously ill child. They provide expert guidance on administering medications, managing gastric tubes, changing dressings and handling other complex medical needs. Beyond the physical care, these nurses offer reassurance and emotional support from the moment of diagnosis, helping families navigate the challenges ahead.

Understanding that a child’s illness affects the entire family, The Sussex Snowdrop Trust also offers emotional and psychological support through its dedicated Snowdrop Counsellors. These professionals provide a safe space for children, siblings, parents and extended family members to express their feelings, process their experiences and find strength during difficult times. Additionally, the trust offers financial assistance to families who may be struggling with the added costs that come with caring for a seriously ill child, alleviating some of the financial burden and stress.

Charity Mission

The symbol of the snowdrop was chosen by the charity’s founders as it represents hope and consolation in the language of flowers. These delicate yet resilient blooms push through the harshest winter conditions, emerging in spring as a sign of renewal and strength. Similarly, the families supported by the trust demonstrate incredible courage and endurance in the face of adversity, with the Care-at-Home Team walking beside them throughout their journey.

To sustain this invaluable service, The Sussex Snowdrop Trust must raise £500,000 annually. These funds are crucial in maintaining the highly skilled Care-at-Home Team, ensuring that families on the Snowdrop Pathway receive the nursing and counselling they so desperately need.

Making a Difference

Currently, the trust is providing support to more than 60 families within its catchment area. In response to growing needs, the trustees have recently approved funding for an additional paediatric nurse at Fordwater School, a specialist institution catering to children aged 2–19 with complex educational and medical needs. This addition has had a profoundly positive impact, further strengthening the school’s ability to provide high-quality care and support to its pupils.

With every donation and act of kindness, The Sussex Snowdrop Trust continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, offering them hope, care and unwavering support when they need it most.

How You Can Help

Spin & Give: Raising Money for The Sussex Snowdrop Trust

Between 18th and 22nd August, our amazing team of eight will be taking on a five-day cycling challenge, aiming to clock up 40 hours of cycling together! Whether we’re pedalling to work or racking up miles on a spin bike, which will be located in our Sussex showroom, every mile counts towards a cause close to our hearts.

The Sussex Snowdrop Trust is a remarkable local charity that provides essential at-home nursing care for children with life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, brain tumours and severe heart and lung conditions. With their specialised support, families can focus on what matters most: caring for their child in a comforting and familiar environment.

One of the trust’s key initiatives is covering travel expenses for hospital visits, spending an average of £700 per week on petrol alone. That’s why we’ve set an ambitious fundraising goal of £3,150 to cover a full month of these essential journeys for families who need them most.

Please help us support The Sussex Snowdrop Trust and the incredible families they care for by donating whatever you can. Every pound makes a real difference.

Thank you for cheering us on and making each spin count!

As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, the F&P Interiors team has chosen The Snowdrop Trust as our charity partner for 2025. Throughout the year, we will be raising both funds and awareness for this incredible organisation, and we hope you’ll join us in supporting their vital work.

On average, the trust spends £700 per week to help families cover petrol costs for hospital trips needed for their child’s treatment. Our goal at F&P Interiors is to raise £3,150 to cover an entire month’s worth of these essential travel expenses.

To achieve this, we will be hosting a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, along with donating a percentage of profits from our remnants sale.

There are many ways to support The Sussex Snowdrop Trust and help local families in need. Whether you donate, volunteer or fundraise, every effort makes a big impact.

A Big Thank You...

What an incredible year it’s been!
As we look back, we’re so proud of what our community has helped us achieve in support of the The Sussex Snowdrop Trust.

In May, our remnants sale at Knepp raised an amazing £1,091.35. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along, picked up a bargain and contributed to such a meaningful cause. We’re also deeply grateful to the brands who generously supported the event — Titley and Marr, The Design Archives, Madeaux and Ian Sanderson — your help made the day a real success.

Then in August, our team took on a week of pedalling, sweat and plenty of laughter for our bikeathon. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised over £2,000. Every mile cycled and every donation counted, and we’re truly thankful for all the support.

Together, these two events brought our 2025 fundraising total to £3,312, making a meaningful difference to a charity close to our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the year, we’re so grateful.
