Five of the Best Supper Clubs outside London

5th July 2017

A cross between a restaurant and a dinner party, supper clubs have grown from strength to strength over the last couple of years, now firmly cemented as a must-try dining experience.

The idea originated in Latin American during the 1990s, when restaurants run from the family home (or ‘Paladares’ as they were known) appeared as a result of the Cuban economic crisis and to offer tourists a more interactive view of Cuban culture. Due to government restrictions, the staff and guest numbers had to be small, which created a very intimate and sociable atmosphere, qualities which make a supper club such a unique and captivating experience.

While most modern supper clubs take place in the home of the host, others are held at alternative -often secret - venues to ensure the evening is as far placed from a typical restaurant experience as possible. Typically, a set price is paid for a number of courses, and while some complementary drinks are provided, almost all supper clubs are Bring Your Own.

Whet your appetite and take a look at this selection of the best supper clubs on offer...
