The pheasant is a symbol of the traditional British countryside. It now, fittingly, adorns this wingback sofa with English roll arms.
Winged chairs were first introduced in England during the 1600s and this version suits the green upholstery fabric to a T. The black pheasants are wonderfully placed and proudly on display.
Winged chair designs were originally borne out of practicality. The sides keep drafts out and ensure that heat is kept in. For this reason, they were commonly placed next to fireplaces. They have since been reimagined in an array of fabrics and on a variety of furniture.
Now, this 1950s Italian three-seater sofa has been brought into the 21st century by Obsolete. They are known for presenting unique furniture, lighting, and curiosities alongside contemporary figurative art. They also purchased this Pheasant Fabric from us.
The one-off piece that they've created has been completed with buttons and black piping. The result is this splendid upholstery and an inviting settee to sit on.
The well-chosen fabric colour also feels timeless. The camo green shade complements the wooden legs perfectly.
Meanwhile, the added pattern is a contemporary twist. The print's large size gives it that modern touch. Moreover, the lined-up pheasant design is ideally suited to the size of the sofa.
This Culver City, LA-based company has made something that feels modern British. We can't wait to see it in an urban or country interior in the near future.
