A Peaceful Bedroom featuring a Japanese Garden Scene

15th February 2021

We were delighted when Heledd Harman got in touch to reveal her stunning bedroom transformation using the breath taking Kyoto Wallpaper. After years of looking for the perfect design, she discovered our extensive collection of designer wallpapers and ordered samples of her favourites to see how they would look in her home. Deciding on this teal blue Japanese wallpaper, she began creating a mood board of ideas with this garden scene at its centre.

Customer says...

I had a good idea of the look I wanted to achieve in each room – when it came to our bedroom, I was determined to find a wallpaper. I came across F&P Interiors and suddenly all my wallpaper prayers were answered! Their selection of prints were just what I was after, I literally could have happily picked so many from their beautiful wallpaper selection.

Having featured paint in most rooms of her home, Heledd was determined to find the perfect wallpaper for her bedroom. With a 'look' in mind, she wanted to create a room that felt pretty yet modern, but not too modern that it would age over time. Undecided as to whether to do the whole room in wallpaper or to put in a dado rail, a key element of the design was to find a motif that felt light and was simplicity in its nature.

Finding that many designs felt too heavy to feature on all four walls, Heledd turned to Instagram for inspiration. On discovering our online store, she discovered this stunning design by Anna French alongside many others that she was keen to try. Having viewed them in her home, she went back and forth between the green and teal blue colourways of Kyoto, however after settling on the blue, her bedroom scheme quickly began falling into place.

Hanging the wallpaper above the dado helps to elevate the design upwards and breaths a lightness into the interior. Styled alongside the beautifully upholstered headboard, matching floor length curtains and velvet ottoman at the foot of the bed, these bolder blocks of colour help to ground these larger features within the room. Creating a sense of stability and balance, the brighter cushion fabric and statement table lamps pull out the lighter tones of the teal blue wallpaper. Tying the whole scheme together, Heledd has managed to create a peaceful retreat that channels the meditative principles from which its wallpaper was inspired. About the Design....

leaf and tree wallpaper featuring a peaceful Japanese garden scene full of swaying bamboo and weeping willows in teal blue. Instantly creating a tranquil, calm atmosphere within the room, the design is inspired by traditional motifs taken from kimonos and other enchanting artistry.

Printed to retain the soft, brush-like finish of this intricate garden scene, the inky blues wash across the walls giving depth and texture to the walls. Adding the bold colour on top of the warm neutral ground stops the design from feeling to heavy, making it the perfect wallpaper to feature on all four walls of a room.

Available in 6 different colourways including muted pinks and purples and a vibrant leaf green which was Heledd's second choice, this enchanting design is also available as a matching fabric. Printed on a beautiful 100% linen cloth, it looks wonderful as elegant floor length curtains, statement cushions and can also be used as an upholstery fabric for sofas and chairs.
