We were delighted to see our stunning Seasons by May Wallpaper featured in our customers’ country home. Gracing the grand entryway and continuing all the way up the stairs, this graceful design looks perfectly at home in this traditional English county property. Featuring pairs of parakeets and stylised floral blooms, this mirrored trellis design naturally leads guests into the home and creates a bright and welcoming hallway.
After discovering us in her local area of West Sussex, Lou ordered a number of wallpaper samples to see how they would look in her home. Living in a beautiful country house, she was looking for something that would be in keeping with her period interior, but at the same time, would brighten up her hallway and make it feel light and airy.
Morris & Co wallpapers offered Lou exactly what she was looking for. Priding themselves on the level of craftsmanship put into each and every design, patterns have an enduring relevance and sense of timelessness that makes them as popular today as ever before.
Having decided on the charming Seasons of May design, Lou set about decorating the bannisters and wooden staircase in a dark blue paint which matched the leaves and floral stems of the design. The striped stair carpet runner works to lead your eyes up to the first floor landing where the wallpaper continues as a feature wall. The carpet also shares the rosy reds of the stylised roses so works well with the overall colour scheme and the stripe keeps things feeling traditional.
We love to help our customers find the perfect designs for their homes and see the finished results of a look coming together; although this is not quite the end of the journey as Lou has since fallen in love with a second Morris & Co design which she plans to feature in her living room...
About the Design....
Inspired by a set of embroidered panels depicting the seasons, these stitched designs have been reinterpreted as a charming wallpaper design. Thought to have been embroidered by Morris’ daughter, May Morris (c.1895-1900), Seasons of May is available as both a wallpaper and matching linen fabric. Featuring chattering parakeets, stylised roses, twirling tulips stems and floral blooms the wallpaper is available in three individual colourways. A neutral linen ground with reds and greens, a smart indigo blue with dark coral blooms, and a striking saffron yellow which is adorned with a metallic golden ground.
