Toile de Jouy Wallpaper
Modern Toile Wallpaper
Toile de Jouy originated in 18th century France and typically consists of a repetitive pattern on a white background which depicts a relatively complex scene, such as hunting, fishing, picnics or floral arrangements. The pattern consists of a single colour which traditionally was most often red or blue, but occasionally greens, browns, yellow and purple colourways were produced. This enduring design has seen a resurgence in popularity with many design houses producing modern Toile de Jouy wallpaper designs. Toile designs work well in traditional style homes and can often be found in Country House and Country Cottage Residences.
