Toile de Jouy Fabric for Curtains and Upholstery

Explore our carefully curated collection of beautiful Toile de Jouy fabrics for curtains, blinds and upholstery. The name Toile de Joy means linen or cloth in French. Originally produced in Ireland during the 18th Century Toile fabrics rapidly grew in popularity in both France and Britain and today are most often seen in country house and traditional style interiors. Toile de Joy is a repetitive pattern typically portraying complex traditional scenes such as fishing or hunting, although today’s interpretations often feature more modern imagery.  Traditionally Toile fabrics feature black, red, blue or green on a white background, but more novel colourways are being produced for today’s modern palettes featuring purples, yellows, greys, pinks and neutrals. Whilst Toile de Joy is most often associated with fabric, Toile de Jouy Wallpapers are also extremely popular and often come in matching fabric and wallpaper designs.
